Following an online leak of her upcoming Twilight manuscript, Stephenie Meyer has stopped working on the sequel to her bestselling vampire series.
In August 2008, a draft of Midnight Sun (the fifth book in the Twilight series) showed up on the Internet. Meyer responded by posting the incomplete draft on her own website, and took a break from the book–explaining that she “feel[s] too sad” about the illegal release. The Daily News reports today that she still has no plans to pick up the manuscript.
Here’s more: “Nothing’s changed,’ a rep for the author confirms to us. … ‘Stephenie is working on something else at the moment,’ the flack reveals. ‘But she hasn’t announced it yet. It isn’t ‘Twilight‘-related. When she’s ready to reveal it, she will. This has been an intense three years for her, and currently she’s just focusing on being a writer.'” (Link via.)
