Amazon editors named Brian Francis Slattery’s Liberation the best science fiction and fantasy book of the year–reinforcing the writer’s work just weeks after Tor released a free digital copy of his first novel, Spaceman Blues.
On the coveted Amazon list, the editors lauded Slattery’s new novel for “combin[ing] the serious and the satirical in creating an unforgettable image of a future America beset by the collapse of the dollar and the specter of a new form of slavery.”
Slattery was confident that his free e-book would help him find new readers in the long-run, as he explained in an exclusive interview with GalleyCat: “Avid readers are writers’ bread and butter, so anything that gets words in front of eyeballs is a good thing. It’s fun, it’s friendly, and it’s a good long-term strategy in making new people fans of what we do,” he explained.
