batmandigital.jpgAfter months of speculation, DC Comics has finally entered the digital comics marketplace, partnering with comiXology and PlayStationNetwork in two distribution deals.

Here’s more from eBookNewser: “Both the comiXology and the PlayStation Network Digital Comics will include titles from DC Comics, Vertigo and WildStorm including Batman: Hush, Green Lantern: Rebirth and Fables: Legends in Exiles . The DC Comics comiXology program will also include the first issue of All Star Superman. In addition, one issue of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman will be available exclusively through comiXology each week. Readers be able to read the comics on all DC Comics-branded comiXology-supported platforms. The comics will be priced from $.99 to $2.99 per issue.”

Marvel Comics has already found success in this new arena. During BEA, we covered a panel discussion with Ira Rubenstein, the executive VP of Marvel Entertainment’s global digital media group. He praised the company’s iPad app: “What we’ve see also with some of the research is that digital books are actually leading to physical purchases.”
