Silent Book Club in NYC This Month

By Dianna Dilworth

Are you looking for a book club that you can go to to get some reading done? Silent Book Club may be just the thing.

The group started among friends that got together to quietly sit and read at their neighborhood bar. “We loved books, and reading with friends, but most of our previous attempts at book clubs had fizzled out,” explains the website. “Often with traditional book clubs there’s the scramble to finish the assigned book, and the pressure to have something smart to say. Wouldn’t it be great to have a book club where you could just enjoy books, friends, and wine—without any homework?”

The fad has caught on and now there are chapters in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Jacksonville, and Vancouver. New chapters are coming soon in Seattle, San Diego, Honolulu, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Berlin, and Amsterdam. You can join other readers in New York on June 27th at 7pm in the bar at the Ludlow Hotel.
