Viacom’s Upfront Pitch: To Reach Young Adults, You Have to Go Through Us

As Viacom’s annual upfront Presidents Dinners with agencies begin this week, the format may be the same, but several of the chiefs’ faces will be new, as is this year’s message to marketers: Thanks to the acquisition of Pluto TV, a free, ad-supported streaming service, last month, the company can help them reach half of all adults in the 18-34 demo. Over the 18 months, Viacom has acquired a suite of new media venues in addition to Pluto TV, ranging from WhoSay, an influencer-marketing platform; VidCon, a conference for video creators; and AwesomenessTV, the YouTube network. (Variety)
