The Talk Extends Hiatus as Claims Mount Against Sharon Osbourne

After going dark on Monday and Tuesday, CBS’ The Talk is extending its brief hiatus from live shows until Tuesday, March 23, as the network continues a review stemming from March 10’s heated debate between Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood. (THR)

After Osbourne vehemently defended Piers Morgan’s treatment of Meghan Markle, and later apologized for her reaction to co-host Underwood, sources came forward to journalist Yashar Ali with stories of Osbourne’s past racist and homophobic behavior behind-the-scenes at The Talk. (Vulture)

Among other incidents, Osbourne “would frequently refer to then-co-host Julie Chen, who is Chinese American, as ‘wonton’ and ‘slanty eyes,’ according to multiple sources, including former co-host Leah Remini,” Ali wrote. (Mediaite)

“The only thing worse than a disgruntled former employee is a disgruntled former talk show host,” Osbourne’s spokesperson Howard Bragman said in a statement in response to the allegations raised in Ali’s report. (CNN)
