Taylor Swift’s new album, Lover, was so big in its first week in the U.S., not only did it log the biggest week for any album—in terms of either equivalent album units earned or albums sold—since her last release, but Lover also accounted for 27 percent of all album sales in the country. Lover opened at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart with the equivalent of 867,000 sales in the U.S. in its opening week, according to Nielsen, a figure that incorporates both sales and streaming information. (NYT)

Swift set a new record in China after Lover became the most consumed, international full-length album in the country in 2019, more than doubling the previous record for album consumption within the first week. (Variety)
