Stormy Daniels Says She Felt Threatened to Remain Silent About Trump Affair

Adult film actress Stormy Daniels said she was physically threatened after speaking out about her alleged sexual relationship with Donald Trump and feared legal retribution if she didn’t keep silent. “They made it sound like I had no choice,” Daniels told Anderson Cooper in an interview Sunday night on 60 Minutes. Daniels touched upon the now-infamous non-disclosure agreement she signed months before the 2016 election. She told Cooper that because “the story was coming out again,” she was “concerned for my family and their safety.” Cooper brought up the criticism that she “saw an opportunity” and her safety wasn’t a priority. She countered that she “quickly said yes” and pointed to how the agreement was only for $130,000. (Mediaite)

Daniels said that she received a threat in 2011 that there would be repercussions if she went public with her story of the affair. At the time, she had just sold her story of the affair with Trump to In Touch magazine, which eventually decided not to publish in the face of a legal threat from Trump’s attorney, Michael Cohen. She said a man approached her in a Las Vegas parking lot, as she was getting out of her car with her infant daughter, and told her to “leave Trump alone” and “forget the story” because “it would be a shame if something happened” to the mother of such a “beautiful little girl.” (Deadline)

60 Minutes producer Andy Court, associate producer Evie Salomon and correspondent Anderson Cooper explain that the road to securing an interview with Daniels about her relationship with Trump began years ago. (TVNewser)
