Showtime Cuts Ties with Mark Halperin

By Christine Zosche

Showtime on Saturday announced Mark Halperin will not be a part of The Circus if the show has another season. (THR)

The Circus has run two seasons, and featured Halperin, John Heilemann and Mark McKinnon. The move comes after Penguin Press canceled a book Halperin and Heilemann were writing about the 2016 election and HBO called off a planned adaptation of the book. The journalist also has been suspended from his role as an MSNBC contributor. (New York Post / AP)

Halperin has been accused by multiple women of sexual harassment during the time he worked at ABC News. Since the news first broke, other women have come forward with similar stories. (Variety)

Halperin issued an apology do-over on Friday, saying has had a “very different reputation than I had at ABC News because I conducted myself in a very different manner”—the result of “several years” of “weekly counseling sessions to work on understanding the personal issues and attitudes that caused me to behave in such an inappropriate manner.” (Deadline)
