Roger Ailes Miniseries in The Works from Blumhouse Productions

By Brad Pareso

Roger Ailes is returning to TV (sort of). A miniseries centered on the former Fox News chairman is in the works from Blumhouse Television. The mini is based on reporting by journalist Gabriel Sherman, who chronicled Ailes’ exit from Fox News this past summer following sexual assault allegations from several women, most notably former anchor Gretchen Carlson. Producing the series will be Jason Blum, who is best known for horror movies like The Purge. Blum has also shepherded TV projects like HBO’s Emmy Award-winning The Jinx, which chronicled the deaths or disappearance of three people close to real estate scion Robert Durst. Durst was subsequently arrested, convicted and sentenced on gun charges and now faces a murder trial in California. (NYT)

Who should consider greenlighting this project? Obvious choices include HBO (it had The Newsroom, after all), Showtime and Netflix. But there happens to be another cable network that’s looking to expand its original series footprint in 2017. That network is CNN. (TVNewser)
