Journalists at Politico are petitioning the U.S. government for a vote on unionizing, days after they were acquired by German publishing giant Axel Springer SE. (Bloomberg)

The new unit, called the PEN Guild and affiliated with the NewsGuild, a union that represents journalists at other news outlets, said it would represent more than 250 journalists at Politico and E&E News, a site covering energy and the environment that Politico acquired last year. (NYT)

“We seek equitable pay, a diverse and inclusive workplace, job protections for everyone and a voice in decisions that affect all of us,” the union said in a statement shared on Twitter. (The Hill)
