New Harvey Weinstein Lawsuit Alleges Rape in Cannes

By Christine Zosche

Weeks after Harvey Weinstein was charged with several additional sex crimes in New York, a German actress has filed a lawsuit alleging the embattled mogul raped her during the Cannes Film Festival in 2006. (THR / THR, Esq.)

Emma Loman is suing for violation of human trafficking laws, assault, battery and false imprisonment and seeking compensatory damages of no less than $75,000 as well as punitive damages. (Deadline)

She claims Weinstein invited her to his suite for a business meeting. She alleges that he tried to give her a massage, changed into a bathrobe, and then asked her to watch him shower. Loman’s suit says she tried to refuse and deflect his advances, but that he ultimately overpowered her and raped her. (Variety)
