Netflix Commits to 8-Episode Final Season of House Of Cards, Without Kevin Spacey

By Christine Zosche

After taking a month to determine whether continuing House Of Cards was feasible after cutting ties with its star, Kevin Spacey, Netflix has committed to making an eight-episode season to end the political drama. (Adweek)

The announcement ends speculation that the sexual harassment scandal that led to Spacey’s firing would also bring an abrupt finish to the critically acclaimed political drama. The final season will include eight episodes to be shown on the streaming service next year, chief content officer Ted Sarandos said Monday at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference in New York. Sarandos didn’t say how Spacey’s absence will be explained on the show. (WSJ)

Production of House Of Cards season 6 was suspended in October, following sexual assault allegations against Spacey. Each of the previous seasons has comprised 13 episodes. (Variety)
