Martha Nelson Now Heads All Media for Yahoo, Including Video

By Christine Zosche

According to a recent internal memo, Martha Nelson has officially been designated the head of all media for Yahoo. The former top editor at Time Inc., who arrived at the Silicon Valley internet giant in August as global editor-in-chief and is also an svp there, now reports directly to CEO Marissa Mayer. Nelson will now oversee Yahoo’s slate of digital magazines and all video efforts. The switch-up comes after Yahoo recently took a $42 million write-down on Community and other digital series in the third quarter of 2015. (THR)

The company said it is taking a “pause” on long-form TV-style video. Prior to Yahoo, Nelson worked at Time Inc. for 20 years. Nelson departed Time Inc. in 2013, when Norman Pearlstine returned to the company. (Variety)
