Longtime CBS Communications Exec Gil Schwartz Retiring

Gil Schwartz, chief communications officer for CBS and a longtime executive for the company, is retiring. (THR / Live Feed)

Schwartz is one of nine members of the CBS corporate executive team and a longtime consiglieri to dethroned chairman and CEO Les Moonves and other corner-office fixtures such as Mel Karmazin and Peter Lund. In a memo to employees, he said he plans to leave as of Nov. 1. (Deadline)

Schwartz came to CBS in 1996 after Westinghouse Broadcasting bought the company. Schwartz had served as a PR exec for Westinghouse’s station group and its Group W programming arm from the early 1980s. (Variety)
