Jordan Klepper’s New Late-Night Comedy Central Show Will Satirize Alt-Right Outlets Like Infowars

By Christine Zosche

After spoofing political pundits like Bill O’Reilly for more than a decade on The Colbert Report, Comedy Central has picked a new media target for its next 11:30 p.m. show: alt-right outlets like Infowars and Breitbart. (Adweek)

The Opposition With Jordan Klepper joins the Comedy Central lineup on Sept. 25. Paying closer homage to past time slot heir The Colbert Report, than Larry Wilmore’s Nightly Show, a release for the project described it as a response to the “hyperbolic, conspiracy-laden noise machine that is the alternative-media landscape.” (THR / Live Feed)

“This show is about America in 2017” in which “this other side” is getting news from Infowars, Breitbart and The Blaze. “This is where the bullshit starts and gets tested in its little kitchens,” Klepper said. “This world sees itself as The Outsider. Donald Trump sees himself as The Outsider—as he tweets from inside the White House.” (Deadline)

The Opposition will be a studio show, with Klepper spending much of his time behind a desk and occasionally interviewing guests. He will be joined by on-air “foot soldiers,” correspondents posing as citizen journalists and filing field pieces. (Variety)
