January 2019 Ratings: MSNBC Is Home to the No. 1 Show on Cable News

MSNBC was the second-most-watched network on cable television for the month of January. The Rachel Maddow Show was the No. 1 cable news program for the month of January across all relevant categories. It averaged 3.29 million total viewers for the month, which is the largest total viewer delivery for a 9 p.m. show in the history of the network. (TVNewser)

Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity averaged 3.01 million. MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell also beat out Fox News’ Laura Ingraham in total viewers and the demo. (Mediaite)

Fox News started 2019 as it ended 2018, as the most-watched basic cable network in total day viewers. The network averaged 1.33 million viewers from across the 6 a.m. – 6 a.m. daypart, marking 31 consecutive months as the most-watched basic cable network in total day. (TVNewser)

CNN posted double digit year-over-year growth in a variety of measurements. The network was up 31 percent in total prime-time viewers, up 15 percent in total day viewers, up 10 percent in the prime-time demo, and down 1 percent in the total day demo vs. its January 2018 ratings. (TVNewser)
