Israeli Army Says Soldier Likely Killed Palestinian-American Journalist Shireen Abu Akleh

By Brad Pareso

The Israeli army said Monday there was a “high possibility” that a soldier killed well-known Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in May, as it announced the results of its investigation into the killing. But it said the shooting was accidental and no one would be punished. (NPR/AP)

The announcement came despite the fact that Al Jazeera Media Network—and several other inquiries by leading human rights groups and media organizations—have lent support to witness accounts that Abu Akleh was shot by an Israeli soldier. (Al Jazeera)
