During his television career, Beckel appeared on several Fox News programs, including Outnumbered and Hannity, from 2009 to 2017. He began co-hosting The Five in 2011, where he discussed news stories with four conservative panelists. (USA Today)
Early in his tenure on The Five, Beckel mentioned he was a recovering addict who had struggled with alcohol and cocaine. In 2015, he took a leave from the show for back surgery, then sought treatment for dependence on painkillers. During his absence, he was fired by Fox. In January 2017, Beckel was reinstated as a co-host of The Five, only to be dismissed four months later for allegedly making a racially insensitive remark to a Black technology worker at Fox News. During his political career, Beckel served as a campaign manager for Walter Mondale’s 1984 presidential campaign. He formed consulting firm Bob Beckel & Associates in 1984 and went on to manage Alan Blinken’s campaign for United States Senate in 2002. (THR)
