ESPN+ Hits 1 Million Subscribers

Disney’s five-month-old ESPN+ streaming service has hit 1 million subscribers. (THR)

Reminder: This isn’t “real” ESPN, but a service that lets you see a mixed bag of sports the programmer doesn’t run on its primary networks, like Italian soccer, small college sports and a smattering of pro baseball games. (Recode)

The service costs $4.99 a month, or $49.99 per year. Pandora took eight months to gain 1 million subscribers to its premium service, and Hulu and AT&T’s DirecTV Now each required a year to capture that number of customers. (Variety)
