Elizabeth Vargas Leaving ABC News

Elizabeth Vargas is leaving ABC News. Vargas, who has spent the last 21 years at ABC, will depart in the spring, at the conclusion of the 40th season of 20/20. (TVNewser)

ABC News president James Goldston said that Vargas is leaving “to pursue new ventures.” (THR)

There was no word yet from ABC News about a successor. Vargas has been with 20/20 for 14 years. She’s worked alongside World News Tonight anchor David Muir on the newsmagazine since 2013. (Variety)

Vargas began her career at ABC as an anchor on Good Morning America, way back in 1996. (Mediaite)
