Disney Chief Bob Iger Says Hackers Claim to Have Stolen Upcoming Movie

By Christine Zosche

Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed Monday that hackers claiming to have access to a Disney movie threatened to release it unless the studio paid a ransom. Iger didn’t disclose the name of the film, but said Disney is refusing to pay. The studio is working with federal investigators. (THR)

The entire episode is eerily similar to the recent high-profile leak of Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black. In that case, hackers had breached the security of a Hollywood-based postproduction company that counts Netflix as well as a number of other studios as its customers. (Variety)
