Dish Loses 31,000 Subs in Q2 2019

Charlie Ergen’s Dish Network on Monday said it lost 31,000 net TV subscribers in the recent quarter amid a carriage dispute with HBO. (THR)

That included a loss of approximately 79,000 satellite TV customers and a gain of 48,000 customers for Sling TV, the company’s over-the-top television service. (Variety)

Analysts had been modeling a net subscriber loss of 252,000. Shares of Dish Network Corp. fell slightly in after-hours trading Monday. (MarketWatch)

The earnings announcement comes just a few days after Dish agreed to buy prepaid businesses from T-Mobile US Inc and Sprint, including Boost Mobile, to create a fourth U.S. wireless carrier. (CNBC / Reuters)
