China Box Office: F9 Falls 85% Amid Weak Reviews, John Cena Controversy

Chinese filmgoers have hit the brakes on Justin Lin’s F9. The Universal tentpole downshifted 85 percent in its second weekend, earning just $20.8 million compared to its $136 million roaring opening weekend. (THR)

Hollywood horror title A Quiet Place Part II debuted in third place with $15 million. That compared with its noisier debut in North American theaters, where it is estimated to have taken $47 million over three days and $57 million by the end of the Memorial Day holiday. (Variety)
