CBS Shareholders Reach $14.75 Million Settlement in Les Moonves #MeToo Comments Lawsuit

By Brad Pareso

CBS shareholders have reached a $14.75 million settlement in their securities lawsuit against Leslie Moonves and the network regarding how it dealt with the sexual misconduct allegations against the disgraced former chairman-CEO—and how his previous #MeToo comments affected the company’s financial performance. Amid the #MeToo movement, more than a dozen women accused Moonves of harassment and intimidation, including exposing himself and pressuring women for sex. Moonves has denied wrongdoing and said the relationships were consensual. Moonves resigned under pressure in September 2018. (Reuters)

Two months later, CBS said it had fired him for cause and denied a $120 million severance package, following a board review of the findings of an investigation into Moonves’ conduct and the network’s culture led by two law firms hired by CBS. (NY Post)
