BET’s Dear Black People Spot Kicks Off $25 Million Social Justice Campaign

BET, a subsidiary of ViacomCBS, is launching a $25 million social justice initiative called Content for Change. (Adweek)

The initiative will support the creation, distribution, marketing and promotion of content that will help drive the critical changes needed to eliminate systemic racism and inequality in America. (Deadline)

Meanwhile, YouTube is launching a $100 million fund to support Black creators on its platform. (THR)

Additionally, Apple has pledged to donate $100 million to organizations furthering racial equity and justice, joining other media and tech companies backing social-justice causes. (Variety)

Both Apple and Alphabet-owned YouTube’s decisions come a few weeks after the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Several tech and media companies have donated to social justice causes recently, including Disney, which pledged $5 million to nonprofit groups, including the NAACP. (TheWrap)
