Anthony Mason Named Interim Anchor of CBS Evening News

With Scott Pelley leaving the anchor chair of the CBS Evening News, Anthony Mason has been named interim anchor of the program. Pelley is moving off Evening News and returning to his full-time role with 60 Minutes. (TVNewser)

Mason is expected to serve in the role for the summer, according to a person familiar with the matter. His start date is not yet firmed up, and Pelley is expected to return to the anchor chair before leaving the broadcast permanently. (Variety)

Mason, 60, is the co-host of the Saturday edition of CBS This Morning and the network’s senior national correspondent. He has been at CBS News for more than 30 years, joining the network in 1986 in the London bureau. He also frequently contributes to CBS Sunday Morning. (THR)
