ABC News President Calls for Independent Investigation of Sexual Assault Allegations

By Jameson Fleming

ABC News president Kim Godwin has requested an independent investigation into how the network handled sexual assault allegations against Michael Corn, a former executive producer for Good Morning America. (WSJ)

“We can’t have us investigating us,” Godwin told staffers during a conference call on Thursday. “We need an independent person.” (WaPo)

Godwin’s decision came a day after a lawsuit filed in New York State Court alleges that Corn harassed and groped at least two ABC News employees. In a statement through his attorney, Corn denies the allegations. (The Hill)

The suit also claims ABC “swept the sexual assault under the rug” and “did not publicly acknowledge” Corn’s actions despite multiple conduct complaints made by other employees. (NYPost)
