2-Page Ad in NYT Calls Out NRA-Backed Members of Congress

By Christine Zosche

Two gun control groups, Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, took out a two-page ad in Wednesday’s New York Times listing members of Congress who have accepted donations from the National Rifle Association. (Adweek)

The groups say the members of Congress listed have taken NRA contributions but “refuse to take action” on gun-control measures. The move comes one week after 17 people were fatally shot at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, when a former student went on a rampage with an assault rifle. (THR / AP)

YouTube has removed a conspiracy theory video that alleged one of the students who’s been advocating for stricter gun laws in the wake of the shooting is an actor. The action came hours after the tech site Motherboard reported that the video, asserting false claims about David Hogg, was in the top trending videos on YouTube. (Deadline)

The video showed footage from a year-old local CBS news segment in which Hogg was interviewed following a heated argument between a lifeguard and a beach goer. The video was removed because its description violated YouTube policies. (THR)
