In honor of the World Cup kicking off tomorrow, it’s rather timely to report on Austria banning a series of adverts which show people mimicking Zinedine Zidane’s now-classic 2006 World Cup final head-butt on Marco Materazzi.
According to soccer blog The Spoiler, Austrian television execs said the spots, which promote online betting site Bet-at-Home.com, “convey that violence can be used to solve conflicts,” hence the red card on the campaign. Two more ads for you after the jump.
