ZenithOptimistic: Global Ad Growth Bumped to 2.2%

By Kiran Aditham

There was a fair amount of positive news running through ZenithOptimedia’s ad forecast today, namely that the Publicis unit has bumped up its 2010 global ad spend forecast after just a few months from %0.9 to %2.2. While this marks ZO’s second consecutive upgrade after 18 straight months of downgrades, the agency also expects even more growth to the tune of 4.1% in 2011 and 5.3% in 2012. North America tops the ad spend list by region though ZenithOptimedia expects the Middle East to grow 4.7% in 2010, Latin America to grow 9.3% and Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) to grow 10.0%.

Of course, the Internet continues to be unaffected by the downturn, with its share of the ad market growing to 12.6% in 2009, overtaking magazines for the first time, and its share is expected to increase to 17.1% in 2012. You can check out stats on regional ad spend and the advertising share by medium after the jump.
