Y&R New York Hopes the Right and Left Wings Can Live Together in Barbeque

By Patrick Coffee

God, it’s all so close to being over. On Wednesday morning we as a nation will move past the shallow sewer that has been the past 16 months and into the next phase of our ongoing national argument.

In the meantime, we have one more day to run all your agency’s political stunts and related commentary, which our unbelievably optimistic readers will review positively whether they agree with your perspective or not!

Y&R New York is the latest shop to enter the “why can’t we all just get along” game with the help of partner Dinosaur BBQ. The concept was pretty basic: “Left wings” come in mild, medium and “nasty” while right wings offer some “deplorable” flavor for those who like things on the extreme side.

Since the case study was filmed in New York, you can probably guess which wings won out.

Now let’s imagine for a second that they filmed this clip in, say, West Virginia. Yeah.

In case you wondered whether the whole thing might just be a stunt: “The chicken wings themselves, according to a Dino insider, are actually the barbecue joint’s regular mild, medium or hot varieties.”

Shocking! Turns out two unnamed creative directors just wanted to play on the totally unscientific conclusion that everyone in American has had enough of this crap and maybe get a little earned media for their client in the meantime.

OK, but do you really think that things will get better after tomorrow? Tough fucking turkey.

Whoever wins tomorrow, there will be some clear losers: Check out that tiny, sad Libertarian winglet. This was supposed to be your year, buddy!
