W+K Helps Rob Gronkowski Show Off His Ring

By Patrick Coffee

Since it’s unofficially W+K Monday at your AgencySpy, here’s the agency’s latest work promoting ESPN’s SportsCenter.

In its last campaign, released earlier this month, Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig showed us the key to making a great entrance: badass walkup music.

The new ad again stars SportsCenter co-hosts Neil Everett, Stan Verrett and Kenny Mayne along with Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who actually looks a bit more like a Walking Dead extra than one badly drawn Tom Brady.

Everyone seems impressed by the size of Mr. Gronkowski’s Super Bowl ring…but are they?!

Boston.com tells us that the ring in question bears a whopping 205 diamonds, but since it’s still far too large to be worn on a regular basis, it’s really about as useful as a Cannes Lion.

One writer notes that Gronk’s dad makes a cameo appearance as Old Man in Cubicle, but this small attempt to make the Patriots more endearing won’t change the fact that everyone who doesn’t live in New England thinks they’re a bunch of cheaters.
