AMF Media Group hired industry veteran Geoff McGann as executive creative director. McGann will lead the agency’s creative department out of its Los Angeles office.

“Geoff McGann brings tremendous success and experience in driving campaigns for household brands, such as Nike, to our growing agency,” AMF Media Group president Vintage Foster said in a statement. “His industry reputation as an innovator makes him extremely valuable to AMF, and we look forward to continuing to bring results-driven, award-winning campaigns to clients of all shapes and sizes.”

McGann joins AMF after nearly two years at McGann+Partners, formerly known as McGann | Zhang, the agency he co-founded in March of 2015. His titles at the agency are variously listed as COO, CCO, executive creative director and director, depending on the source.

The agency won creative duties for Air China back in September of 2015 and launched the pro skater-filled “Dustbowl Disciples” to raise awareness of the California drought the following month. McGann | Zhang became McGann+Partners and has since closed due to “creative differences.”

Before launching McGann | Zhang he spent ten years as executive creative director and producer for Generator Content, which he also co-founded. That followed 16 years at W+K, beginning in 1987, where he served as a creative director and executive producer with a brief departure to serve as creative director with Ogilvy & Mather from 2000-2001. While with W+K, he served as copywriter and creative director on Nike’s “Just Do It” campaign from its inception, also working with brands including Miller Lite, MTV, Subaru and Gap. He has also taught at Wieden+Kennedy’s school WK12 and VCU Brandcenter and opened 72andSunny’s 72U.
