We Hear: Traffic Lost Mitsubishi (Updated)

By Matt Van Hoven

We’ve received about six separate tips today and yesterday stating that Mitsubishi has ended its fairly young relationship with El Segundo, California based Traffic. We’ve called both agency and client, but neither has responded.

The number of tips tells us a couple of things:
&#151 a bunch of people in the agency are really glad this is over and wanted us to know about it.

&#151 a bunch of people outside the agency found out and wanted us to know about it.

&#151 a bunch of people decided to screw with Traffic and falsely tipped us off.

We’re working on figuring out what the deal is. Best way would be for the agency to, you know, call back: we can be reached at 212.547.7935. Traffic picked up Mitsu in June, 2008.

Update: Ah, well, AdAge has put it in stone. Guess our ‘waiting to hear back’ plan bombed &#151 they had it a full hour ago. A full hour! I guess after 70 years, you have a batline to pretty much every trash hauling ‘executive’ who ever marketed his company’s wares.

Update 2: BIG thanks to the folks who tipped us off tho this story. We were hoping to go legit on this piece, but were beat at our own game. We should have trusted you! Just means we need to do better, and if you folks are game, add as much detail to your tips as possible. One thing’s for sure: ‘reporting’ is a-changing.
