Hmm, where have we heard this before? Is “adjustments” now the blanket term when it comes to on-the-record comments from agencies regarding layoffs? Whatever the case, we have received confirmation that cuts were made at San Diego-based MDC agency Vitro (nee VitroRobertson), which last we recall was conducting a science fair project for Asics and hiring a bunch of staff prior to that.
Anyhow, an agency spokesperson tells us, “We are constantly adjusting our staffing to meet client needs. We’ve added a number of new staff this year, and unfortunately reduced some other positions.” Specific details weren’t revealed, but we’ve been told by sources that it was a “tiny number” (aka no bloodbath) in terms of reductions and the cuts were “sprinkled” across departments. We’re being told that there was no financial peril or major client loss that led to this move.
