Valero Energy Corporation, an international manufacturer of transportation fuels, petrochemical products and power which spends around $10-15 million annually on media has selected Campbell Ewald as its agency of record following a review.

Campbell Ewald will be responsible for media buying and planning as well as creative and branding, and will also be tasked with with creating B2C and B2B initiatives to raise the profile of Valero’s branded gasoline. The agency will run the account out of its San Antonio office with support from Detroit.

The appointment marks the seventh new business win for Campbell Ewald in as many months, including Country Inns & Suites,  Travelocity and Empire State Development.

“Campbell Ewald’s proven ability to help consumers understand and care about companies in the commodity category was extremely impressive,” said John Perry, senior vice president, advertising and communications at Valero Energy Corporation. “We are looking forward to working closely with Campbell Ewald to take our brand to the next level in 2016 and beyond.”

“The multifaceted business and upward growth trajectory of Valero Energy Corporation will prove to be an exciting opportunity for our teams,” added Campbell Ewald president Kevin Wertz. “Working with the world’s largest independent refiner and one of the biggest renewable fuels producers is very exciting. Valero’s leading ethical practices will help us create some truly purposeful work.”

New work by Campbell Ewald for the client is expected some time in 2016.
