Today on the Menu: Condé Nast Shat Itself, Web Ads Are Cheap, Thomas Pynchon Does VO

This morning on The Menu my co-host Jason Boog and I were joined by FishbowlNY editor Amanda Ernst. Today the conversation revolved around advertising and the lack of it being funneled to magazines. Ersnt asks: what is the feeling from the advertising side about placing ads in magazines? I couldn’t answer that, except to say that the money is not landing online as many thought it would.

And apparently, TV ads still get the majority when it comes to cash spend, as compared to Web video ads.

Do you know Thomas Pynchon, the author? Yeah, neither does anyone else. That is to say, not personally, because Pynchon is a recluse, avoiding publicity at pretty much all costs. But for his new book, Inherent Vice, he lent his voice for an audio ad about the novel.
