Last week, various news outlets interrupted your regularly scheduled 24/7 racist rich guy coverage to break news of astronaut Scott Kelly’s return to Earth after nearly a year outside our lonely planet’s gravitational pull.
The trip served, in part, to document the effects of zero gravity exposure on the human body. After jumping into a pool with all of his clothes on, Kelly revealed that he somehow grew by two inches while in space and told reporters that he’s “surprised” by some of the aches and pains that have followed his landing in Kazakhstan last Tuesday.
But did he know that he’d have a new Lexus ad by Team One waiting for him?!?
Of course Mr. Kelly couldn’t appear in the ad itself as he was too busy chilling in the Soyuz capsule.
The spot ran as an introduction to the livestream of Kelly’s landing last week, and it was created in partnership with TIME Magazine, which created a “Year in Space” series documenting the astronaut’s experience.
What better time to announce a new model via a spot that “ties an emotional link between Scott Kelly’s return home and the safety features of the RX”??
Interestingly, Kelly told reporters that he’s having a bit of trouble adjusting to life back on earth, where his hyper-sensitive skin “almost like a burning feeling wherever I like sit or lie or walk” and all but prevents him from wearing clothing much of the time. Perhaps we were never meant to be astronauts after all.
