TBWA London Stages Emissions-Free Delivery Stunt for Sodo

By Erik Oster

TBWA London recently ran an unusual stunt for London pizza chain Sodo: using runners to deliver pizzas.

For the stunt, TBWA London teamed up with a local runners club, the idea being to cut delivery emissions altogether by finding an alternative to the delivery car for the chain (which normally doesn’t offer delivery at all). It’s an idea that fits well with Sodo’s brand ethos of locally and ethically sourced ingredients, allowing the chain to offer delivery without betraying its roots. The pizza runners were tracked with live Periscope streams and proceeds went to running charity Run Dem Crew. That’s all well and good, in theory. But like Adweek, we’re not sure what running has over another eco-friendly delivery option: the bicycle. And if we were on the receiving end of one of these orders, we’d be more than a little bit worried about dropped pizzas and sweaty delivery boxes. But apparently the stunt was a success, and Sodo has decided to make it a monthly event. Maybe team up with a local bicycle club next time?
