Skype Wants You to Step Outside

By Kiran Aditham

VoIP service Skype is pushing the late March launch of its Skype Mobile application with the unveiling of the “Outside” campaign, which is an effort where five artists scattered around the world will make outdoor representations of your personal messages.

The leftfield group of artists include a tree carver in Ankara, Turkey, a ringmaster in Barcelona and a shadow artist in Australia. Visit the “Outside” campaign hub to call any one of the artists. Sure, it’s a tad artsy and fartsy but still a simple, clever way for a brand that some say has been struggling to be heard on mobile phones to reach out and create awareness.

“Outside” follows another creative Skype campaign from last December whereby The Viral Factory developed a 10-day live streaming experiment with a man hanging outside a phone booth in Spain.
