She Runs It, an organization that promotes women to lead at every level of marketing, media and tech, has chosen its 2023 Women of the Year, highlighting those leaders who have set the pace for the industry.

The Women of the Year award is now in its 60th year, and this year the award recipients are: Jeremi Gorman, president of worldwide advertising for Netflix; Lisa Osborne Ross, chief executive officer, Edelman U.S.; and Susan Vanell-Charpentier, senior director of purchases, global data, analytics, media, marketing tech and In-store for P&G.

Winners are selected from dozens of nominations and are chosen for lifting and championing others while driving growth and innovation for their companies.

“She Runs It exists to pave the way for more women to lead at every level of their careers in our industry, and these women exemplify that mission,” said Lynn Branigan, president and CEO of She Runs It. “They have done as much for their companies as they have for their communities, their teams, and the planet, always leading with empathy, challenging the status quo, pursuing sustainable business practices, all while lifting others.”

Osborne Ross oversees 13 Edelman offices and over 3,000 employees. In addition to setting the strategy and vision for the U.S., she also serves as an advisor to senior executives at Fortune 500, higher education and government institutions, providing counsel on social purpose, corporate and public affairs and DEI initiatives.

Osborne Ross has been instrumental in creating Edelman’s Covid-19, Racial Justice and Roe v. Wade Task Forces. In 2022, Ross, in partnership with creative icon and musician Pharrell Williams, launched Mighty Dream, a new kind of creative advocacy agency dedicated to the co-creation of purpose-driven work to earn trust and effect social change with, by, and for Black and Brown communities.

Gorman joined Netflix in 2022 after spending her career in digital media, serving in business roles at Monster.com, Variety, Yahoo. She was an early employee of Amazon Advertising, where she held a variety of leadership roles before becoming the global head of enterprise advertising sales. Jeremi joined Netflix from Snap Inc., where she served as chief business officer starting in 2018.

Gorman serves on the boards of The Ad Council, The American Advertising Federation and MMA Global. She is on the board of the non-profit Women for Women International, which invests in women survivors of war and conflict, providing them with social and economic skills to transform their own lives. She is also a founding investor in Angel City Football Club, Los Angeles’ NWSL team.

Vanell-Charpentier, a veteran strategist and negotiator, manages the world’s largest media portfolio at P&G. She helped transform P&G’s agency landscape over the last decade, creating the company’s first in-house buying team and conducting direct negotiations with media publishers. Her focus has been on extracting waste from the media and advertising ecosystem and creating an environment where everyone elevates their respective games.

A strong advocate for women’s rights, Vanell-Charpentier founded and then led P&G’s global supplier diversity effort and has led P&G Purchases women’s network and several women’s empowerment efforts. Recently, she founded P&G’s parenting network to help working parents thrive.

She Runs It, which was founded in 1912 as Advertising Women of New York, will honor the three Women of the Year recipients at an awards celebration on July 13 at The Edison Rooftop in New York City.

“The awards event is an amazing lesson in leadership for everyone who attends because these winners also share their insights, experiences, and strategies for rising to the top,” added Branigan.
