Saatchi NY Navigates Family Life for Charter

By Erik Oster

Saatchi & Saatchi launched a series of new spot for Charter, promoting its Spectrum service with humorous glimpses into family life.

Each of three 30-second spots present a scenario in which Spectrum comes in handy. “Tweens,” for example, opens with the voiceover, “Saturday night and your home has been overtaken by a selfie-posting, video-streaming tornado of tweens and there is no escape.” Luckily, the parents have enough bandwith, thanks to Spectrum, to silence the throng of tweens (temporarily) by ordering pizza. “Sunday Football” presents a father who is able to stream the game on his tablet while his son watches Vegetable Fun Time for the fourteenth consecutive time, while in”Kid” Spectrum Home Voice helps clear up a big miscommunication. The approach works best (as in “Sunday Football”) when it is entertaining while also showing how Spectrum can help solve potential problems. “Kid,” meanwhile takes the problem to a pretty unbelievable place, with a problem that could have been solved by myriad alternate solutions.
