Saatchi New York Takes Cadbury to That Strange Place

By Matt Van Hoven

The last time we saw an ad this kooky, it came from Fallon and was also for client Cadbury. Remember the Eyebrow Dance? That spot seemed to miss the boat for some folks, and this execution from Saatchi New York takes the oddity concept and applies it to the question: how do they get the caramel into the candy bar? The answer is revealed through, of all things, modern dance.

Can ads be judged out of context of the overall campaign?

Update: T”his spot is for a completely different product than eyebrows and gorilla, those ads are for Dairy Milk,” writes a spy. “This ad is for a Canadian chocolate made by Cadbury, called Caramilk, and in Canada they’ve been doing ads for 40 years about this ‘caramilk secret,’ the new saatchi ad is a funny way of basically giving up the secret they have been doing campaigns around forever.”
