Rauxa Hires Creative Director to Lead Healthcare Category, Moves Into New Headquarters

By Erik Oster

Independent agency Rauxa hired Mindy Telmer as creative director.

Telmer will be responsible for overseeing all creative execution in the healthcare category at the agency, which includes Weight Watchers, Piedmont Healthcare, Care Credit, Celgene and Blue Shield of California, the last two of which are recent additions to its client roster. She will report to Rauxa executive creative director Adan Romero, while partnering with evp, health and wellness Karl Tiedemann.

“Mindy is a top-notch talent who understands how digital best practices can be applied to the healthcare category like few others in marketing,” Tiedemann said. “She has worked with the biggest brands in this space and is one of the most experienced minds in knowing the nuances and regulatory landscape, as well as crafting and managing the most effective campaigns. Her years of work in this complex, multi-faceted industry will greatly benefit Rauxa.”

Telmer arrives at Rauxa from Nitrogen Group, where she oversaw the creative department of the agency’s bi-coastal team as evp, creative director. Her previous experience includes a stint as svp, creative director at Harrison & Starr, where she led creative output for Merck’s diabetes and cardiovascular franchises; svp, executive creative director at Lawrece & Company; svp, creative director at Juice Pharma Worldwide and associate creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare.

Telmer’s arrival at Rauxa comes as the independent agency moves into its new 11,390 square foot headquarters in Irvine, California on the strength of new client wins, including Vans, Alaska Airlines and TGI Fridays. The move also follows a recent expansion in New York and the arrival of Lincoln Bjorjman from Wunderman as CCO in June of 2018.

“Rauxa has a history of attracting and retaining the best people in the business. Providing them a fun, collaborative and inspiring place to work is key to getting the kind of performance that has helped us grow so consistently,” Rauxa founder Jill Gwaltney, who was recently recognized in Adweek’s “Disruptors: 39 Women Who Are Spearheading a Revolution in Advertising, Media and Tech” list, said in a statement.

Telmer rounds out a team of five women creative directors at the female owned/run agency. She joins Becky Kitlan, who works on Verizon and Blue Shield; Jessica Lee, who handles Verizon B2B and Audible; Devon Keiderling, who works across clients including Verizon, Audi and Piedmont; and Kerry Mellor, who handles Alaska Airlines and BBI.
