Publicis 133, Wim Wenders Pay Homage to Classic Italian Cinema for Persol

By Erik Oster

Publicis 133 teamed up with German director Wim Wenders (Wings of Desire; Paris, Texas) to launch a new spot for Persol.

The two-minute spot, entitled “Vai, paparazzo!” pays homage to classic Italian cinema while also deriving inspiration from Francois Truffaut‘s Day for Night. Shot at the famous Cinecitta Studios in Rome, the ad presents a film within a film within a film concerning a love story with a twist, with Wenders also making an appearance as a director. Unsurprisingly, “Vai, paparazzo!” is beautifully shot and visually stylish and while you could argue that Persol isn’t the center of attention, the spot certainly makes the sunglasses look good. It also benefits by a perfectly-tailored soundtrack composed by Laurent Petitgand, who worked with Wenders on Wings of Desire.
