PETA Takes on Pamplona

By Kiran Aditham

As Pamplona, Spain kicks off its annual San Fermin Festival, which of course includes the running of the bulls, tons of booze and potential impalement, the folks at PETA have chosen to participate in the 9-day bacchanal in the only humble way they know how: a half-naked, blood-spattered protest.

Over 200 anti-bullfighting activists from the world over gathered in the Pamplona town center wielding PETA signs and showing off their red-soaked bodies to shine a light on the mistreatment of the animals during the festival. While PETA staged a similar bull-related protest in Times Square almost two weeks ago, this one obviously hits closer to home where the group is better able to match wits with people like this guy.
