Phernetton most recently served as CCO/editor at Staff; this company was part of Samsung Accelerator, the company’s New York-based startup “incubator.” He also has an extensive agency history, serving as CD/SVP of Proximity’s Minneapolis office before leaving for Samsung in summer 2013. He first joined the Omnicom team in 2000 at sister agency BBDO Minneapolis, and altogether he spent 15 years with the Minnesota shops while worked for clients like Formica, the Minnesota Vikings and Hormel.

In the new position, he will be responsible for Barefoot Proximity’s creative output. Phernetton begins on November 15th.

ELA also signed an Omnicom veteran as its new ECD. The Irvine, California-based agency today announced the appointment of Carlos Musquez to the ECD position; he will lead creative and strategy on all of the agency’s accounts moving forward.

Prior to joining ELA, Musquez spent a full 17 years at Alcone Marketing Group, where he held the VP/CD title for the past nine years. Before joining Alcone in 2005, he owned Oneroom Advertising & Design and served as its creative director.

The press release tells us that Musquez has directed campaigns for brands ranging from The California Lottery, Nestle and Coca-Cola to Carl’s Jr., Illy Coffee and Yamaha.

The release includes Warner Bros., IMAX, Intel and Thermador among ELA’s existing clients.
