Mother Co-founder Retires, Again

By Matt Van Hoven

In 2003, Rob DeFlorio, strategist Andrew Deitchman and cds Paul Malmstrom and Linus Karlsson launched the agency you know as Mother. Six years later, DeFlorio is retiring “to pursue personal interests” &#151 for the second time.

“I have been in this business for a long time, both on the client and agency side,” said DeFlorio in an emailed statement. “It has been rewarding in so many ways. I feel the time is right to move out and move on. I’ve begun the process of unplugging from the day-to-day world of business and marketing in order to focus all my energy on my personal life. It’s something I really want to do.”

DeFlorio’s first retirement came just before his decision to (co) create Mother and just after an 11 year stay at Nike. No word regarding his status with the company, meaning we don’t know if he was bought out or if he still maintains partial ownership.

Mother‘s co-creator will apparently spend time being a father. DeFlorio is said to be planning to spend time with his one year-old daughter and playing outside a bunch. Have fun, dude.

Wrong pic. Sorry Rob.
