Minneapolis Agencies Unite for Tribute to the Late Pat Fallon

By Erik Oster

Following the death of Pat Fallon on Saturday, GdB partner, creative director and former Fallon copywriter Doug deGrood felt the need to honor the industry icon somehow.

So he penned a tribute ad that comes not just from GdB but from the entire Minneapolis ad community in which Fallon played a formative role. Along with other volunteers, he worked the phones and eventually got more than forty agencies from the Twin Cities to sign on.

Yesterday, the full-page ad ran in the Star Tribune to coincide with Fallon’s funeral. It was a fitting tribute to a man who “literally changed the face of Minneapolis advertising.”

Ogilvy New York president Adam Tucker also penned an earnest homage to Fallon for The Drum today, recalling the moment when the latter “fired” Northwest Airlines in 1995.
